چکیده

Abstract Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membranes were developed by the thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) process using a triple-orifice spinneret with solvent co-extrusion at outermost channel for applications in membrane distillation (MD). The polymer surface concentration during preparation was controlled exploiting interfacial interactions of diluent and extruded surface. from dense to porous structure large pore size high porosity, which considerably enhanced water vapor permeability 13.5 L m?2 h?1. Furthermore, responsible formation spherulites different shapes, such as contacted spherulites, isolated humps. humps constructed novel hierarchical structure, created superhydrophobic that conferred upon PVDF remarkable wetting resistance MD toward low-surface-tension saline water. More significantly, all unique structures achieved one-step fabrication without additional processes materials. Thus, this work provides new, simple, useful alternative performances desalination.

Preparation and characterization of polyethylene/ glass fiber composite membrane prepared via thermally induced phase separation method

Grinded glass fiber (GGF) embedded high density polyethylene (HDPE) membranes were prepared via thermally induced phase separation method. FESEM images showed that all the membranes had leafy structure, indicating a solid-liquid mechanism during phase separation. The results of EDX and TGA analyses confirmed that the fibers were dispersed in the HDPE matrix uniformly. Normalized water flux of t...

Separation of Carboxylic Acids from Aqueous Solutions using Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactors

Separation of formic, acetic, and propionic acids from the aqueous stream using membrane solvent extraction has been studied using three different membrane contactors made of polysulfone (PS), polyethersulfone (PES), and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) using two different solvents; including ethyl acetate (EA) and diisopropyl ether (DIPE). The efciency of the membrane and e...

Modeling Multicomponent Gas Separation Using Hollow-Fiber Membrane Cohtactors

A model developed for multicomponent gas separation using hollow-fiber contactors permits simulation of cocurrent, countercurrent, and crossflow contacting patterns with permeate purging (or sweep). The numerical approach proposed permits simulation to much higher stage cuts than previously published work and provides rapid and stable solutions for cases with many components, with widely varyin...
